the end of a journey

Hej!
…and Happy St. Patricks day!
today at 11:44 ended a long journey for me 🙂
Remember when I started my Baltimore Album Quilt in 2015?
..exactly on the 28.09.2015.
A lot of things have happened since then, a lot of working hours were done.
Time flew like it feels now 🙂 and nothing could stop me from accomplishing my goal!
I´m very proud to say today  “ I made it!“ 🙂
I take the „green day“ as we call St. Patricks day too as a good Omen, because green is the color of healing and the heart chakra.
A long journey came to an end…still can´t believe it.

Please be aware!:
it´s my original design – no copying allowed!
it´s all hand appliqued with the Apliquick(c) technik / tools
threads used for hand appliquè  are  Silk threads from YLI
the batting is 100% wool batting from Hobbs heirloom
Threads for the quilting are from Wonderfil 100wt Invisafil (5000m)
Embroidery motive (Samoyeds) is from embroidery library (find the licens/permit rules on their homepage)
all hand embroidery thread is from DMC
all fabrics are 100% cotton fabric
the material needed for the apliquick(c) technik  is from Vlieseline/vilene
All quilting was accomplished on my sit-down Pfaff Powerquilter 16.0
the applique mimics the so called „kurbits“ painting which is typically found in Sweden on furniture, fabric or decoration pieces.
The entire Quilt is made in hand applique and it took me 3 month to quilt it.

Hope I didn´t forget something
Here some pics now: 🙂

The Quilt messures 250x250cm  (picture taken in my new „Quilt stuga“ which was build because of this Quilt – to give it a home – another story 😉  )
The name of the Quilt “ My heart is Swedish“

I wish you all a blessed day!

Update Baltimore Album Quilt

Hej!

Spring is near also here in Sweden, also if we got a bit more snow during the last week. Today is sunny and -12C a fantastic day for a long dog walk.
But first some updates 🙂

I´ve been busy with my time schedule and my Baltimore takes shape and is coming soon to an end. What a good feeling 🙂
Since January I was sitting and quilting this beast and now it´s only the border left. Right now I´m appliquéing the last 20 daisy flowers onto the borders and the quilting is already marked on the border. Piping and binding strips are already cut and waiting.
Here some pics:

Yes, my Baltimore has a Unicorn 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Happy quilting 🙂

588 safety pins

Hej!

The last days have been busy for me, preparing a few Quilts for quilting. We warmed up the new Quilthouse so I would have enough space for the large Quilts, and it worked out really good!

I managed to sandwich 3 Quilts. One of them was my Baltimore Album Quilt. It took me two days to sew the top together and get the borders on, and then I fixated the Quilt with 588 safety pins…this baby goes nowhere 😉
I find it especially interesting how fast I have accomplished my goal which was to have the top finished by December. I would never ever have thought that I really will make it after all the happenings during the last 2 years, but here I am, sitting on the Quiltsandwich and am amazed 🙂 …and frightened to death because the real task is to quilt it! 🙂

img_4389
2,5 h of pinning 🙂 the Quilt has a size of 260x260cm by now, finished size will/should be 250x250cm.

And I was able to finish the Baby Quilt, a Clients order. When I got the order in late November it was not known if it´s going to be a boy or girl, but I always had that Talent to „know“ what it will be. So when I choose the colors I choose for a boy, and today when I got the ok to share pictures here with you I also got the information that it will be a boy… cool 🙂 I think my Talent failed me only once..

Here some pictures:

I love how it turned out 🙂

Have a great day!

Happy Quilting!

Goal accomplished

Hej!

Sometimes I amaze myself… as it´s the final hours of the year 2016 I just managed to finish the Top of the Baltimore Album Quilt.
Remember when I started 2015 in September, my goal was to have the Top done until December 2016.
Honestly after all the throwbacks and stones coming my way during this time I really was sure I would not make it. But I kept working and right now, today at 17:52 i finished the last embroidery stitch on the last corner.
The Top is now on the design wall in my new Quilting house 🙂
So happy about it, and can´t nearly believe it….but… it shows.. never underestimate a Capricorn 😉 and…never give up!

A Happy New Year to all of you out there! May it be a blessed one!
Gott Nytt År till alla!
Guten Rutsch! und Ein Gutes Neues Jahr 2017!

Vi ses!

Happy Quilting!

Winter solstice

Hej!

Today I want to wish all of you a Happy Winter solstice! At 11:44 the sun and light is turning, means we are welcoming the light back!
As for a personal reason I´m no longer celebrating X-Mas, but I celebrate the Winter Solstice with a candle ceremony. Please join me!

Tonight I light the fire!

As it is the Winter solstice, the shortest day and the longest darkest night of the year, it is also the time of the year where the light is returning. The light of the new year and the light of new beginnings.

Tonight I light the fire! And I light 22 candles. Each for a special dedication.

1 candle. May the returning light of the new year and the light of the fire reach out to the darkest places here on earth and touch the hearts and minds to bring back consciousness and love.

2 candle. May the fire and the returning light bring the needed change!

3 candle. May the fire and the returning light bring peace in each heart.

4 candle. May the fire and the returning light bring gratefulness for mother earth!

5 candle. Is the candle for the people I´m grateful for. Those who love me unconditionally.

6 candle. Is the candle for the people I´m grateful for too. The one who taught me the lessons.

7 candle. Is for the person who hurt me so deeply that something broke inside of me. I forgive you!

8 candle. Is for the family I come from. May it bring you comfort and peace.

9 candle. Is for the people who try to be friends. Thank you!

10 candle. Is for my pack! I love you so deeply words can never tell!

11 candle. Is for all animals on this planet! Thank you!

12 candle. Is for all plants on this planet! Thank you!

13 candle. Is for my home! I´m grateful for the place I´m allowed to live in peace!

14 candle. Is for the water and soil I´m living from! Thank you for the richness of your Fruits!

15 candle. Is for my Spirit guides! Thank you for being there!

16 candle. Is for all my pets gone before me! I know you´re still there and you are awaiting me! I love you!

17 candle. Is for my talents and gifts! I´m grateful also if it´s not always easy to live with.

18 candle. Is for the coming year and all it is holding in it.

19 candle. Is for all those who died and are now home again! And for those who are ill!

20 candle. Is for the never ending, unconditional Love! May it shine brighter than ever!

21 candle. Is for the path we are walking. May it guide our steps with love.

22 candle. Is for ME. I made it through another year. I´m grateful and I feel blessed.
Tonight I light the fire… for another year! Peace, Love and blessings to all of you!

(same here)
img_4242
the quilting is a over all feather border, freehand free motion quilted, and the border has some crosshatching. 🙂

another one is finally the „Midsommar Tango“ Quilt. Love how it turned out.
I tried the new Marathon thread antic gold on it, and just fell in love with this thread.

Once in a Lifetime – or Houston Quilt Festival 2016

Houston Quilt Festival  3 words every Quilter  I´m sure is dreaming about. It´s the Olympic games of the Quilters. The worlds best Quilters and there Quilts are meeting there in Competition and friendship. Festival is also a Mecca for all Quilters who want to shop the heart out. It´s shop till you dropp.

For me the surprise came in late February when Walter told me…you´re going to fly to Houston in November. OMG..stand still my Quilting heart.

What shell I say.. I´m back now since yesterday, still fighting some jetlag and temperatur difference – from +30C down to snow and -10C, but I prefer winter!! 🙂
And it was a really great experience, I have no adjectives for it. It was huge from the space it takes. Rows organized by numbers from 100 – 2000 helped a lot with the orientation.  Every Booth is like it´s own Quilt show and a Candy store at the same time. I´ve never ever seen such a huge arrangement of threads, fabric or notions. Every Quilters heart is beating faster at this place!
It´s a huge challenge to not blow your budget, nearly impossible!
The Quilts hanging at the show – Exhibit or Competition – exquisite! It´s a feast for the eye to have a close up look and a learning experience at the same time! also if you are not allowed to take pictures from all of them. I came up with 556 pictures from the show in sum.
Feel free to take a look on our homepage / galleri/ side 2 – Houston 2016, there you will find all the pictures. It´s worse the time!

http://www.nissebo.eu/galleri/index.php/Houston_2016

I´ll live on this experience for a very long time. The journey, the impressions, the ideas, the people I met.

A huge THANK YOU to Walter who gave this to me! I love you!

Can´t wait to get back in my sewing room, sewing up all my ideas!

Happy Quilting!

A class of it´s own

Hej!

Last weekend I had my first class in free-motion quilting for beginners at my Quilters Guild in Mora.
19 happy Quilters came!!
Boy what fun we had! And what talented Quilters we have in our Guild!
The two days were full packed with cool and easy designs and lot´s of info.
I have to admit I was a little bit nervous as the date came closer, but it was no need to be. It was my first class in Swedish and everything went absolutely fine.
Happy dance 🙂 🙂 🙂

Lidköping 2016

Hej!

I´m back from this years Quiltköping in Lidköping. One of my Quilts were there in the challenge and did well, but no winning what so ever. But it´s always fun to join 🙂

img_3745

Life during the last month was kind of a roller coaster or storm at sea but I´ve learned to surf the waves by now.
I finished my first Rosette from the Millefiori book 2 „balett…“, a English Paper piecing project (EPP), totally sewn by hand. And already started the second Rosette.

img_4073

My main focus is now on my Baltimore Album Quilt. I´m appliqueing the last triangels and corners. All 12 blocks are finished, a little bit of embroidery has to be done, but than I already can start thinking about the layout and sewing it together. The idea for the border is also growing. sure still a lot of work to do. It´s kind of a challenge to myself to get the Top finished until December, so I can start with the Quilting as planed.

Did I mention that I have 2 puppies (4 month and 9 weeks) here with me, and am sewing in my kitchen? 🙂
but as always…in the end everything will  be fine 🙂
