Paducah update :) – it´s a ribbon …yiekkks :)

it´s wednesday and after a sleepless night – the awards ceremony was live on fb from midnight to 2am, no way I was going to miss that 🙂 – I can reveal that…..
„Rainbow of hope“ won a ribbon Large Wall quilts stationary machine quilted. I´m simply blown away.

For those of you not quilt world related … Paducah Spring Quilt show is one of the most prestige filled shows in USA. Getting a quilt in there is already big, but winning there is beyond words, no matter which place!
This is the only show with purchase awards, that means the Best of show and the master awards from the different categories will be purchased and hung in the Quilt Museum. What a honor and how special is that! 🙂
Dream big right 😉

Happy quilting!

I keep you posted! 🙂

Happy Quilting!

Good news from MQX

Hej 🙂
I love it when the day starts with good news 🙂
Just found out that „Green is Gold“ was accepted into MQX New England, a major show in USA. From the other names of the list I can tell you it will be a fiercy competion. But for now it´s waiting again until march.
Prepairing the quilt and shipping off is next 🙂

Here´s once more a picture of the quilt. A wholcloth quilt, my original design.
Happy quilting!

Happy sewing 2019!… let´s start with something finished

Happy New Sew-Year to all of you 🙂 May 2019 be a good one!
How about starting with something finished? I have been very busy since early November 2018 and here are some results 🙂 (ok, yes you are right… I´m always busy 🙂 )
My first try on a whole cloth quilt went quiet well. I designed it in late September and started quilting in November, it took about 6 weeks from start to finish. It´s already entered for a „Green“- Challenge in USA, so fingers crossed. The name is „Green is Gold“, I used gold embroidery-thread from Guetermann, and did also some yarn couching. A lot of Swarovski crystals went on it too :), fabric is 100% cotton, batting is a lofty polyester for the puffy feathers 😉

over x-mas I made a baby quilt, which I can´t show here right now, because it´s a gift, so you´ll have to wait 🙂
Next on was a blue and white quilt for an Exhibition in Houston this year, we will see how it works out – accepted or not- in march 🙂
It´s a kind of vintage quilt, as I found the table cloth in a second hand store in Östersund and fell in love with it. Quilted with Wonderfil Master quilter 40wt, 100%cotton, fabric and batting.
here the pictures: the name is: „feathered roses“     65″x 63″

and last but not least the one I´m currently working on… means quilting, because I work on 3 different projects right now 😉
It already demanded it´s name be: „Why me? Why not?“  but it´s not sure which way it will go! (show or no show that´s the question 😉 )

well 🙂 that´s it for today, there sure is always more to tell, but I also need something for a next time 😉

Happy quilting!

It´s snowing and more good news

It finally started snowing and with it, it also started snowing good news 🙂 Looks like the universe released me from the waiting button.
Here we go:
„Rainbow of Hope“ was accepted into Road2Californa a major Quilt show in USA, with about 500 Quilts there.

„Masquerade“ was accepted into AQS Daytona Beach a major Quilt show also in USA with about 300 Quilts there.

and… I got a new sewing machine 🙂

the new Pfaff quilt expression 720… a dream machine!!
This machine really came as a surprise to me, nothing planned… live really can be amazing 😉
and last but not least… rumor has it, that my quilt „secret love“ will be the cover girl for our Rikstäckets Quilt magazine in December… I´ll soon find out if that´s true 🙂
Update:… yes it´s true.. here it is 🙂

Others than that I´m busy working on the next show quilts, and the quilt class schedule for 2019… so check back after X-mas!

Live is good! 🙂
Happy quilting!!

More good news…

It´s been quiet a while since I last wrote here after my 1.Place in Salt Lake City. Summer was busy and I´m very grateful that it´s over. The part with the forest fires was not fun, but now we have Autumn, Harvest and soon Winter again. Means sewing time 🙂
Lot´s has happened on the quiltfront too 🙂

My Quilt „Rainbow of hope“ (yes the one who won in SLC/Utah) was in Birmingham /UK at Festival of Quilts and got a „highly commended“ – what an honor! It took me two weeks to find it out – by surprise, nobody told me… so it was a late happy dance.

Rainbow of hope at FoQ in Birmingham/UK 2018 „highly commended“

but the success story goes on 🙂
My new show quilt „Masquerade“ got juried in to the MQX show in Illinois/USA already a big deal only this. Now the fingers are crossed for a good outcome in the end of September 🙂 than I will show the quilt officially here 😉

Last weekend I was with Louise – from my Quilters Guild in Mora – in Lidköping. There – every second year – we have Quiltköping – Swedens own and largest Quiltshow.  Competition theme was this year „Linjespel/ line play“
And to my big surprise and happiness I won traditional category traditional category, price was a new Bernina 215 🙂
A dream came true!!

Now it´s back to work 🙂 Training with the dogs started already, the garden is nearly done for this year and lots of ideas are waiting to be born to life! I was also asked to teach in Mora next year at our own Quilt exhibition – how cool is that 🙂

A big THANK YOU goes to Walter for all support and always having my back! I love you!!

Happy quilting! 🙂
vi ses,

UQSM 2018 Salt Lake City / USA…. and something big!

I´m back from the Quilt show in Salt Lake City 🙂 and have to say the UQSM show is a show with heart! Such lovely people there and I hade lots of fun and sure some retail therapy too 🙂
A lovely Lady from my Quilters Guild in Mora came with me and together we had a good look around in the area and the Quilt shops. Wow – talk about huge Quilt shops!!!  Take a cup of coffee… this is going to be a long blog post 😉

Red Butt Gardens and Mormon Temple with lovely gardens around!!

We started our Needletour at Gardeners Village where they had a fairy festival and everything was decorated with lovely little fairy gardens 🙂 and our first shop the Pine Needle Quilt shop was also there – talk heaven!! 😉

From there we went to Renae Haddadin Quilt shop Quilts on the Corner a ten minute taxi ride from Gardeners village, and in the same place there is also Quilts etc.
Both wonderful places 🙂 There are a lot of Quilt shops in the area but I think Quilts etc. is the largest one of all…. OOOOMMMMGGGG 🙂 Did I say Heaven already… this is heaven and it goes on – on the other street side… Quilts etc.

books, notions and faaaaabbbbricccc….

House nr2 on the other street side is all about buttons, patterns and wool applique and stitchery, and novelty prints

a place to loose your mind 😉
Next day we went to the Quilt show and the awards ceremony… which really held a surprise 🙂
I got an email about 4am – in the middle of the night – but after I read it there was no way I could sleep any longer… the email stated… „we want to let you know that you won an award, but of course we won´t tell you what award. Please join us tonight at the awards ceremony… “  Good there where two pillows on my bed I could scream into to not wake up the whole hotel 🙂 🙂
The video from the awards ceremony is on my fb page.

The judges where from the NACQJ (National Association of Certified Quilt Judges) that was huge and a honor, because this really means something – they know their business!

They wanted us to know that the competition entries where on a high international level and all who had won an award tonight can be proud of it because it really is big! In the end they had 20 Quilts who all where possible Best of Show winner Quilts – but they had to pick one…  (the Best of Show is picked out of all 1st place winners!)

Best of show: Sherry Reynolds
Front and back of the Quilt 🙂 amazing!

Karen K. Buckley 1st place Applique

Beth Nufer another winner 🙂

Janet Stone 🙂 another winner

Bethanne Nemesh also a 1st place winner 🙂

…okay… I can´t wait any longer…. 🙂

My Quilt – Rainbow of Hope won 1st place conventional machine 🙂
(and yes… this means it was also up for Best of show…OMG I still can´t believe it)

to sum it up you could say in this show have been the best Quilts from all around, the one´s you normal only see in magazines and dream of to see them live… yes they where all there and I was able to see them. This was beyond what I ever would have dreamed off…

But the best thing of all are the people behind the scene.. Jina and Moana who bought the show after Vicky Hundert death . People with heart and so much love!

The whole journey was like a miracle for me, all and everything fell in place like it was guided and ment to be…unbelievable. 🙂
This journey means a lot to me and all the nice comments I got – I will keep them in my heart. Winning 1st place… with a Quilt which gave me sooo much trouble… I really learned a lot, and lot´s has changed in the last month and weeks..

A big THANK YOU to my lifemate Walter who always has my back and believes in me! I love you!

Happy Quilting!

14 month – Rainbow of Hope

14 month ago I started a Quilt top, the intention was to play with a new ruler I bought from Robin Ruth design. Loved how easy it was and how fast and beautiful the compasses build up. The end of the song was a finished top – my original design. 🙂
The quilting itself took me 3 month, the border/binding alone two weeks and the bling two more weeks.
There are 1.500 Swarovski crystals on this quilt. I used 100% cotton fabric, polyester batting (of a USA brand I will never ever use again- worst mistake I made – lesson learned!), piping around the compasses. All free motion quilting was done on my sit-down pfaff powerquilter 16.0 with Wonderfil threads.
The name of the Quilt : “ Rainbow of Hope“
Inspired from the happenings of daily life – we are all unique like the colors of the rainbow and we are all connected under the rainbow of hope.
here some pics:

Hope „Rainbow of hope“ does well on the different shows it´s intended to go.
Well wishing and crossed fingers are welcome! 🙂 🙂

Happy quilting!

Quilt Exhibition in Sveg

Today in the Swedish newspaper! OMG 🙂
Heute in der schwedischen Zeitung – ein Artikel ueber meine Ausstellung in Sveg.

Simone tog med sitt kviltintresse från Österrike till Vänsjö – Nu ställer hon ut i Ljushallen

14:58 – 1 februari, 2018

Just nu pryder Simone Steuxners vackra lapptäcken Medborgarhusets Ljushall.
